Copycat (Not) Shamrock Shake Recipe Review - Plus, Join Our New Real Food Community Group!

I used to be a Shamrock Shake fanatic. I'm a mint fan and an ice cream fan. Then when I got into real food and stuff and realized there are seriously like 80 ingredients in those things....I just couldn't bring myself to eat one again. 

Though I managed to ride out Shamrock Shake season this year without being tempted, I still would love to have one again. So when I saw this recipe I knew I had to at least give it a try.

Confession though: I hate avocados. I know they are full of good fats and crap but I just haven't found a way to eat them that isn't gross. This recipe promised me a delicious and creamy minty shake though....

Anyways, it turned out alright! I can't say I'm craving it again anytime soon, but I was able to drink it and semi-enjoy it.

Yay! It wasn't terrible!

So that's my review of one of the new recipes I tried this week. If you like avocados even a tiny bit more than I do, I'm sure you will love this shake. :-)

  1. I made an orange chocolate pie with avocado in it recently and it was really, really good. Couldn't taste the avocado at all! I'll see if I can find the recipe (it's in my Pinterest somewhere!)

  2. I don't like avacados because they are slimy... eek.

    Another thing about Shamrock Shakes from McDonalds besides the fact they are probably make from chalk and concrete... they are SOOO full of fat and sugar. In weight watchers each food is given a point value and you have so many "points" per day. Most women have around 29/day. (I have a lot more since I'm nursing) I think if I heard correctly a large Shamrock Shake is 32 points!!!! YIKES!

    I'm might have to try this recipe!

  5. Shamrock Shakes are just vanilly and minty, right? You could make one with homemade vanilla ice cream and actual mint... pretty easy and would be so fresh!

    I can't eat avocados plain but OMG in some guac!!!

  6. Avocados do have a very fatty mouth-feel. I tend to want them either whole raw or as a mayonnaise substitute.
